Don’t forget – Branch Annual General Meeting on Thursday 28 February

All members are invited to attend the Annual General Meeting at 12.45 on Thursday 28 February at the Friends Meeting House, Mount Street (behind Central Library).

This year more than ever, our members and our city face really tough challenges.  Government policies and budget cuts are damaging public services and hitting young people and our communities particularly hard.  The ongoing assault on the NHS is hurting our health services whilst the Government’s cruel reform of welfare and housing will cause untold suffering.  UNISON and the Manchester Branch will continue to fight these attacks, and we can do this best when we have the input of as many members as possible.

So the Annual General Meeting is a great opportunity for members to have their say on key issues; like public sector pay, on budget cuts,on defending our NHS, and how we can show the hate-filled English Defence League that they are not welcome in our city.

And this year’s Guest Speaker, Owen Jones is a real class act.  A local lad (more or less), he’s the author of ‘Chavs, the Demonization of the Working Class’ and has appeared on Question Time, Newsnight and other current affairs programmes.  More info at:

As ever, contact the Branch if you want further information.
