A General Election is coming…have you registered to vote?

The Government has decided to call a General Election and now more than ever it is crucial that every eligible person casts their vote on 12 December.  It is our chance to finally oust this Government, bringing an end to over a decade of harmful austerity measures.  Only then can we begin to heal the divisions caused by Brexit.

Before we can achieve that we need to ensure that everyone who is eligible to vote is registered to do so. The deadline for registering to vote is 11:59pm on Tuesday 26 November and for an explanation of the registration process, including how to vote by post or proxy, you should visit the following website: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. There are only 15 days remaining until registration closes so if you haven’t already, please make sure you register, and if you know anyone that hasn’t please encourage them to do so.

Our national union has put together a short video on the importance of voter registration. Please take a look at it and if you can share or recommend it to your friends and colleagues, even better!

We live in a divided country and never has there been a time when your vote could mean so much and we at Manchester UNISON strongly believe an election is required to bring about the positive change we need.
