UNISON has been a key supporter of the campaign to free the ‘Miami Five’ – the five Cubans who spent 16 years in US jails for trying to stop terrorist attacks against Cuba. The final members of the Miami were freed from US jails in December 2014 and returned home to Cuba and their families.
The Cuba Solidarity Campaign, to which the North West Region and many UNISON branches are affiliated, has organised the Miami Five Freedom Tour with two of the five – Rene Gonzalez and Gerardo Hernandez – which will be coming to our region on Thursday 14th July.
