NJC Industrial Action Ballot Results

Members in the Council and Schools will be aware that the ballot for strike action against the NJC pay offer closed last week. Nearly 85% of Manchester UNISON’s Council and Schools Members voted to take strike action in support of fair pay. Sadly across the branch we fell short of the Tory-required 50% ballot turnout. However, Schools in our branch, region and hundreds across the nations did beat the threshold and voted to take industrial action and the National Committee meets on Tuesday to decide next steps including potentially re-balloting those large branches who got so close to the 50% required.

Thank you to all who voted, and a special thank you to all of those who helped with telephone banking, texting, emailing and simply sharing information about the campaign. Unfortunately, the UNISON email system is down at the moment so all information will be shared on our website once there has been further analysis of our results and we have met regionally and nationally.
